i might be throwing myself before the firing line here, but i honestly don't mind when people post their requests for having a turned-down wall paper critiqued by the community. afterall, this is a forum for discussion. yes---you can say its a matter that must be taken up with an admin---but lets face it, the admins are busy; they don't send decline emails out because of the flak they generally get, and by comming to a hub of site activity you know you have a shot at the best of the best reviewing your work.

maybe i feel this way because every other day i spend 8 hours in a studio with my work on a wall, having stones thrown at me from 20 different people. but hearing opinions is what makes your work better; especially finding out what 20 different people like and dislike about it. when everybody flips out 'this is not the place for this question....' i think they're wrong, and it only makes the community here look elitist.

if people here have a problem with this statement, then i offer up my e-mail addie for those that drop by wanting an honest opinion of their work.

1 - when clicking on the "upload and then wallpaper" option, if someone hasn't contributed in the past, they should be guided to a page with BIG TEXT saying ......

Perhaps that would be politic after any and EVERY wall upload....to be sure to be sure....)

Oi....which mongrel blinded me smiley?...... Spell checker

jafo - I hessitated suggesting the text for every submission as after a while people will stop reading it (if they read it in the first place!).

There are a lot of people complaining of blinded smilies...it seems semicolons are being censored by the scripts for some reason.. :-?

Yes, there should be more info when people upload stuff to the site. (Although some people don't bother to really read what's already there now.)

But forget about walls.....we've a winky crisis here, folks! Where's me winky? (rhetorical question only please don't answer that, ) (I'd use a winky here but it's broken )

I've been lurking around on this board since the time before the moderators decided not to send out any rejection emails. Shortly after that the first "why was it not accepted?" threads started to pop up on this board and the never ending discussions started. I can also recall that a small pop-up screen as mentionend above by Sput (#29) was suggested shortly after those threads started to show up in an evergrowing frequency.

My point here. Why oh, why hasn't that been done yet???

Please, please, please T-man. I know you are very busy and overworked, but would it be possible to do something of this sort? If you would to this I would be in your dept until the end of time...

aufisch -ahw, ya mean I was reinventing the wheel, but I didn't know it because someone has not started mass producing wheels yet and they only exist in peoples memories of someone who once drew a wheel but no one actually made one yet?

what's a wheel?

wow this thread got padded since i checked it oh 12 hours ago.

i see here a lot of pros, cons, and good ideas. but despite the other sections that could be used for discussion, the fact remains that they simply arn't. i use this analogy: if enough people are missing the exit on a highway, the architects must realize that the road is poorly signed or laid out. it cant be that a thousand people in the morning rush are just stupid. i too skip over the stickies because they are, so it's said, 'streaky'. its not noticable especially to people who have one thing in mind and thats getting some answers. and lets face it - how many people post help requests in the general section? the point still remains that this forum is the focal point and people can expect requests for critiques, and i think those requests should be honored. yes there are some very horrible walls we've all seen, ive pointed out a few. but i also noticed the worst ones are commented with "its my first post." regardless of whether they should have made it through moderation (that is not my point in this thread) those new people are still deserving of help. how else will they know to get better? if you don't want to participate - don't! no one is forcing you to reply to a thread.. so don't infuriate your SELF by feeling compelled to reply if you think it is stupid.

on that note, chas, while 'attempting' to be kind but being perfectly obnoxious, is still correct. i would likely receive thousands of emails on my offer to help. that is a problem which would occur if my addie was splashed on the main page. however that is not the case. what i expect from this that anybody who took notice of the thread to suggest me to someone who comes by looking for help - or, give help themselves if they felt compelled to. i didn't say i was a saviour. i offered to be one of hopefully many helpful people.

on another note - sig, 'what did i expect?'? to be flamed? sort of. regardless of wether you even replied to ME, it looks like i got a good ratio of civilized responses yet it is indeed sad that i was expecting comments like yours. like i said: no one forces anyone to respond to these threads. unless you win some kind of prize for most replies that i don't know about

oh - by the elitist comment, yes - i believe that anyone who feels so superior over someone else that they are compelled to ridicule them publicly is an elitist. no one was born a skinning god. people need guidence. myself and many others make jokes about some requests but i know i do my best to show i am joking.
